Continuing with our post-celebratory holiday clean up series, below are a few more tips to help you get your home back to its original condition. These are specifically related to those highly trafficked areas and upholstery.
Floor Cleaning
Here are some ways to remove the high traffic dirt from your carpet, hardwood and tile and grout.
Carpet Cleaning
Use a simple spot remover to get the high traffic stains areas out of your carpet:
- Add 1/4 tablespoon of dish soap to 1 cup of water in a spray bottle.
- Spray the spot, but do not soak it. Take your time, rushing this process will actually take you longer!
- Blot the area (without rubbing back and forth to avoid spreading or further carpet fiber tear).
- Repeat steps 1 – 3 until the stains are lifted.
Hardwood Floor Cleaning
Mop with the grain of your hardwood floor to remove dirt and prevent further wear and tear.
Tile & Grout Cleaner
Use a neutral tile cleaner to clean grout effectively. Read and follow the instructions on the product very carefully!
Cleaning upholstery
It is inevitable, crumbs and sauces of all kinds will fall on and in the cracks of your dining room chairs and couches. Armed with a strong stomach and a rag saturated with an odor neutralizer or natural bacterial enzymes will help make short work of this cleanup job.
Deep cleaning your upholstery is important to remove all allergies and dust from deep within your furniture. Your furniture is the second largest air filter in your home.
