We recently assisted a client in the Naples, Florida area with a damaged ceiling, stove and drywall from a small yet intense grease fire in their kitchen.
“It happened in a literal flash.“
Ideas for Fire Safety in the Kitchen:
- Don’t throw out that expired box of Baking Soda! Rather clearly mark it as expired and keep it near the stove. In the event of a grease fire, use it to smother the flames putting it out without much clean-up required. Grease fires don’t care if the “best used by” date has expired!
- Purchase and keep a small fire extinguisher near by! Below are a few links to help you in your quest for kitchen fire safety:
- Home Depot Fire Extinguisher
- Lowes Fire Extinguisher
- Lowes Spray Can Fire Extinguisher (recommended). Get one for your outdoor grill too!
